For today's lunch I found myself at The Diner,
which has very recently opened in Southampton’s new West Quay Watermark complex
that boasts countless new options for a quick mid shopping pick-me-up or relaxed evening meal.
Prepared to ask about making substitutions to create
my own vegan dish, I was incredibly impressed to see vegan items clearly marked
on the menu when I sat down at my table. The Vegan Benedict can be found on the 'All Day Breakfast' section of the menu, whilst the Vegan Taco Salad is also clearly marked. Whilst I didn't ask myself, there are many other items on the menu that i'm sure could be easily adapted with a few simple tweaks (Avocado on toast for example)!
Keen to sample one of their signature vegan options, I chose the Vegan Benedict (without mushrooms, yuck), which was delicious although not quite what I expected and not as substantial as I had hoped! However, I would recommend it and am always keen to support and promote restaurants that add vegan options to their menus, showing my usually non vegan company that it is easy to find amazing food.
Also, can we appreciate the decor in this place? The bathroom was just stunning, I had to get a picture!
The Diner have numerous locations in London, with Southampton currently being the only branch outside of this area. Details of locations along with their full menu can be found on their website.
Have you eaten at The Diner? Let me know if you've tried their vegan options or if you've created your own from other menu items!
